Ringwood Pipe Band

At the invitation of the Mayor of Albert in Picardy 20 members of the band went to stay in Albert to take part in the local activities commemorating the 95th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. Over the weekend of 1 - 3 July we played at the official ceremonies in Albert, the memorials at Pozieres and Thiepval, a massed bands event back in Albert and at the Piper's Memorial at Longueval. We were with other pipe bands from Kilbarchan (Scotland), Germany and the local French pipe band and were extemely well looked after by our French hosts. All in all a very enjoyable and stirring visit.
